slymarketing: How To Get Subscribers Without Annoying Your Visitors

  • cctech · 2 years ago
    Hi Jens,
We had great success with subscribers once we made it a point to actually "ask" them to subscribe. One thing we did was to put a single line of text below each post that simply says "If you like what you have read, please consider subscribing" (or something like that). If the visitor clicks, they go to our subscribe page, which has the different options for them to choose. I think something might be better on your visitors. That is just my opinion :).

If only we could assume that everybody is using a feed reader, then "fly-in-ads" would not be a problem at all since only new visitors would see it : )

Thanks, I will test the link at the bottom of all posts, and see if that will work. I did test it a long time ago, and I got a few subscribers, but not close to as many as when I tried the "fly in ads".

I agree with you Kangax that there would be no problem if everybody used feed readers, but I don't think that many are using them yet.... but sometime soon.

Don't use the fly in ad things. You only want people to subscribe if they actually want it, otherwise you'll just get spam complaints and what not. If they are interested in what you are writing, they'll see the text on the site asking if they want to subscribe.
